Image based Recycling Recognition Device to Increase Household Sustainability Efforts

This project started as a submission to IEEE's 2022 Sustech Conference. Using a Raspberry Pi camera module, TensorFlow's object detection software, TensorFlow's Model Maker, and Apache to create our own datasets we were able to create a device that identifies an object and outputs a webpage that informs users on how to properly recycle that object as well as helpful resources pertaining to it. We are currently working on expanding the database and incorporating features to make it more user-friendly.
